Joint Safety Campaign: Championing Safety Through Global Collaboration

Generative HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) is more than a guiding framework, it is a universal culture where every party has a role and responsibility to uphold.

Generative HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) is more than a guiding framework, it is a universal culture embedded throughout MISC Group, where every organisation, partner, and stakeholder has a role and responsibility to uphold. Guided by this approach, MISC ensures that aspects of safety, compliance, and operational excellence are integrated in every aspect of its operations.

A concrete example of this commitment took place on 3 December 2025, when MISC collaborated with its long-standing shipping partner of 25 years, Hanwha Ocean, on a joint Safety Campaign at Okpo Shipyard in Korea.

While the campaign reflects MISC’s operational focus on the well-being of the Geoje community and workforce during construction of its LNG carriers, it is nonetheless part of a broader enterprise-wide approach to GHSSE that reinforces MISC’s culture of care, discipline, and accountability.

This culture of care goes beyond just the workplace. Safety responsibilities likewise follow employees home and into communities in which MISC operates. This positions the framework as an integrated aspect of the MISC value chain while illustrating its policy of being people-first.

Demonstrating HSSE in Action

Such safety endeavours were displayed throughout every development stage of the LNG carriers commissioned, where personnel from both MISC and Hanwha Ocean showcased actions based on the “Care & Comply” principles as they looked out for the well-being and safety of one another while simultaneously upholding compliance with stringent discipline.

In commemoration of their efforts, individuals who stood out were awarded the Safety Recognition Awards, reinforcing the fact that safety leadership is personal, observable, and impactful at every level.

For A Safer Tomorrow

The session had also brought together individuals from the MISC management, shipyard teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to reinforce a unified message:

  • Safety is an equally shared responsibility
  • Preparedness comes before progress
  • Every employee deserves to return home safely each day

This is further consolidated with structured safety briefings ahead of high-risk testing, pre-inspection checkpoints, and on-site engagement sessions that focus on proactive risk awareness and safe work behaviours.

By engaging in these activities, each employee present is equipped to be able to understand and uphold what safety entails throughout their conduct.

Conclusion

In conclusion, MISC is championing a future where HSSE leads every decision, partnerships are strengthened through safety alignment, and maritime growth never comes at the expense of the environment and the people.
